As summer temperatures hit their peak, it’s the perfect time to think about hosting a party to help cool you down. Even if you don’t have a pool, there are plenty of ways to beat the heat. Who wouldn’t love running through the sprinkler or constructing a giant Slip and Slide (instructions https://www.wired.com/2012/06/diy-slip-and-slide/)?
Decorating is a snap and can be accomplished with a quick trip to your local party store or big box retailer. Keep it playful and bright. Colorful straws add flair to beverages; paper lanterns bring color and help light the way in the evening hours. Vibrant beach towels draped on chairs are functional and decorative. Inflatable beach balls bring it all together and are fun to play with, too!
When planning your menu, finger food is best. Skewers with fruit and Artigiano Classico, grilled pizza, Crescenza crostini, Gorgonzola stuffed peppers, and sliders are great options. Set up a self-serve beverage station. Avoid glass bottles and drinkware. Consider offering flavored lemonade, cucumber water, and iced tea in acrylic beverage dispensers. You may even want to create a signature cocktail for the occasion! Place galvanized tubs with ice for cans of soft drinks and beer around the party venue. Reusable plastic hurricane glasses won’t shatter if dropped. They also make great party favors.
Lastly, keep plenty of sunscreen on hand; bug spray, too, if you plan on partying into the evening hours. Don’t forget to put together the perfect playlist. If you don’t have time to build one yourself, there are plenty available on Spotify or Pandora.
Sit back, relax and know that you’re ready to host the coolest party of the summer!
